We do a lot of lift and leveling work. Most people come in knowing exactly the look they want. Fewer have thought about what changes underneath once the truck sits higher and the tires get bigger.
None of this should talk you out of it. It’s just what we’d want to know if it were our truck.
Leveling Kit or Lift Kit
Most trucks leave the factory sitting lower in the front than the back. A leveling kit raises the front to even it out. It’s a smaller job, it’s less expensive, and it usually makes room for a slightly bigger tire.
A lift kit raises the whole truck. Depending on how much height you want, that can mean anything from spacers to new control arms to a full suspension setup. More height means more parts, more cost, and more that changes about how the truck drives.
Bigger Tires Change More Than the Look
Taller tires make your speedometer read slow, so you’ll want it recalibrated. They’re heavier too, which means the truck takes more effort to get moving and more effort to stop. With a big jump in tire size, some trucks need new gears to drive the way they used to. Fuel mileage will drop. How much depends on the build.

Plan on an Alignment
Lifting a truck changes every suspension angle. An alignment afterward isn’t optional if you want your tires to last. We also like to recheck it after the suspension has settled for a few weeks.
Think About How You Actually Drive
A truck that commutes from Nampa to Boise every day and a truck that spends weekends in the Owyhees need different builds. Cheaper kits often ride rough, and that gets old fast on a daily driver. Tell us how you use the truck and we’ll recommend the setup that fits, not the most expensive one.
Warranty Questions
A lift doesn’t void your whole factory warranty. But a dealer can deny a claim on parts they say the lift affected, which usually means suspension and drivetrain parts. It’s worth knowing before you start.
